*Commercially printed decals using the latest technology
1 Tile Decal 5.40x3.85 approx size
Application Instructions:
Cut the decal to fit your project. Hold decal under lukewarm water for approx. 20-30 sec. Wet your prepared piece and slide decal onto your piece. Squeegee out any bubbles or water or use your fingers starting from the center outward so decal is smooth and flush. Allow to dry completely.
Firing Instructions for Enamels:
*Best fired on white or a light-colored background. I fire 2 thin layers of Thompson 1055 white enamel and also fire a counter enamel prior to applying the decal.
*Decal is then fired for approx. 1 1/2-2 1/2 mins. with kiln set to 1500 degrees. Decal should be shined, not matte. Fire longer if needed.
*Time/Temperature can vary from kiln to kiln. Testing is a good practice prior to firing your piece.
*Notes on my firing:
The temp. drops when placing items in the kiln. I start my timer and watch until the temp. reaches about 1440 degrees and then check the piece. you can then adjust your timer to reflect approx. firing time.
***The Enamel Decal Shop waterslide decals can also be used w/ ceramics, porcelain and fused glass. I provide basic instructions, but as I only fire enamels my knowledge of these processes are minimal.
For ceramics: Decal should be applied as third firing on top of a fired glaze. Once applied and dried completely fire in a kiln to cone 016-015 (1420F to 1455F) Fire fast speed.
For fused glass: Fire from 68F to 1095F-1185F in 1 hour or fire a fast fire to 1445F.
***Note that the colors on your screen may not appear the same as your piece after firing.
