Artist of the Month: Martie Wilson

Artist of the Month: Martie Wilson

Here at Twisted Turtle Studio, we’re constantly inspired by the incredible artists who bring heart and soul into every piece they create. This month, we’re thrilled to shine a well-deserved spotlight on someone who embodies creativity, passion, and a beautiful sense of purpose in all she does—Martie Wilson of Sterling Pony Designs.

Martie’s journey into jewelry design is a true second act. After dedicating 26 years to a career in anesthesia, she’s now half-retired—but don’t let that fool you. Her days are full of bold adventures and creative energy. When she’s not at the hospital, you’ll likely find her in one of two places: at her jewelry bench crafting stunning metalwork, or at the barn working with wild Mustangs adopted from the Bureau of Land Management. Yes, you read that right—Martie also trains Mustangs. Talk about living a life full of grit and grace!

Her designs reflect that same balance of strength and elegance. Recently, she’s been channeling her metalwork talents into creating gorgeous, handcrafted barrettes—each one with its own unique personality and flair. Using textures, thoughtful detailing, and quality materials, Martie’s work captures a rugged beauty that feels both grounded and refined. We especially love how her pieces seem to carry stories, as if they were made to journey alongside the wearer.

You can explore Martie’s work through her Etsy shop, Sterling Pony Designs, where you’ll find a collection of handmade pieces inspired by the natural world, life with horses, and the creative spark that lives in every artist's heart.

We’re honored to have Martie as part of the Twisted Turtle community. Her artistry reminds us that it’s never too late to follow your creative calling—and that sometimes, the best stories begin in the second chapter.

Let’s all give Martie a big virtual cheer in the comments below! And if you snag one of her barrettes (or any of her dreamy designs), be sure to tag us—we love to see our community supporting each other.
